School Information
Carnegie Vanguard High School is the only high school for academically Gifted and Talented (GT) within HISD. All students admitted to Carnegie are identified as GT, and the entire curriculum is designed to address the needs of this exceptional population.
The academic program consists exclusively of Pre-AP and AP courses in all core subjects, ensuring rigor, depth, and challenge in every classroom. Our faculty are trained in gifted education and complete annual GT professional development to remain at the forefront of best practices in teaching gifted students.
A distinctive feature of our curriculum is a year-long independent research project, in which students are guided by their teachers and mentored by professionals in their chosen fields of study. This unique experience allows students to explore their academic interests in a real-world context while developing critical research and analytical skills.
At Carnegie Vanguard, we are a team and a community dedicated to excellence. Our mission is to partner with students and families to provide the highest quality education tailored to gifted and talented learners.
